The Abrites BN018 licence is dedicated to the adaptation of transmission control units to the EWS (Elektronische Wegfahrsperre — the electronic immobiliser system), commonly referred to as the EGS (Elektronische Getriebesteuerung, the electronic gearbox computer), via OBDII.
Synchronising an EGS to a vehicle is not only for fitting a new or used gearbox module — it also comes up during key programming and when replacing other modules that sit in the drivetrain or the security system. The licence additionally adapts Bosch MG and MD ECUs in G-series vehicles by DFlash dump, and it includes support for setting third-generation ZF8HP gearbox modules to virgin.
Support for the latest hardware and software versions of the ZF8HP Gen3 EGS7 TCU modules is implemented, which keeps the licence compatible with the newest BMW transmissions.
Main functionalities
- ZF8HP (Gen3) set to virgin
- ZF6HP EGS adaptation to E-series vehicles
- ZF8HP EGS adaptation to E-series vehicles — where an 8HP transmission has been installed in an E-series car, the DME/DDE of the donor vehicle, or a dump from it, is needed
- ZF8HP EGS adaptation to F-series vehicles
- Bosch MG / MD adaptation to G-series vehicles, by dump
- Support for the latest ZF8HP Gen3 EGS7 TCUs
Supported models and ECUs
- All BMW E-series vehicles
- All BMW F-series vehicles
- All Bosch MG / MD ECUs in G-series, by DFlash dump
This licence contains the full functionality of the legacy BN011 licence.
What you need alongside it. For adaptation of 6-speed gearboxes in E-series cars, the BN012 licence is required if no working key is present — or a ZN103 PROTAG programmer if a working key is available. Bench work on the TCU is normally done through the ZN151 Distribution Box Set.
An AVDI interface with an active annual subscription is required to purchase and use this licence. Delivered electronically; your AVDI serial number is needed to process the order.
